Ecoprinting on Silk – August 8, 2019

August 8, 2019. 9:30am-1:30pm

We will meet at the Tangled Garden,, overlooking the Grand Pre UNESCO Heritage site and Bay of Fundy. I will give a brief description of the process we will use to eco print on silk. In eco printing, the natural “dyes” in the plant material are transferred to the fabric. You will have the opportunity to create your own design by arranging plant material on silk fabric. I will guide you through the wrapping and steaming of the fabric. While the steaming is happening, there will be time to wander through the gardens and visit the tasting room and Tea room of the Tangled Garden.

All materials provided.  Dairy free, gluten free light refreshments provided.

Your Host

Hi, my name is Eleonora. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree, an Education degree and am a retired teacher with 32 years of experience working with students and parents both in the public system and Waldorf school. My primary focus was in music education and I continued by studies with textile arts. Having recently moved to the beautiful Annapolis Valley here in Nova Scotia, I decided that my teaching days were not quite over. I love to share my passion of working with natural fibres, especially painting and dyeing and ecoprinting on silk and also working with Japanese hand made paper and bookbinding. I believe that we are all artists, able to learn and create great beauty. Sometimes, we simply need a little guidance to reveal what is within each of us.
